Government Primary Health Centre (PHC) at tourist resort Gulmarg of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district is without basic facilities including medicines while the patients mostly tourists are forced to vacate from the place to seek medical aid some other place. A group of foreign tourists told CNS that one of their colleagues was injured while enjoying skiing at the tourist resort. “We were shocked to see only a doctor available in the centre. There is no adequate drug supply in the centre. Not a single ambulance is there and besides a traditional x-ray machine which is there is defunct,” they said. They said that the Centre even lacks a power generator and in case of power failure the single doctor is unable to perform his duty. “If State Government is so keen to give a fillip to the tourism sector then it ought to take care of these things first. We faced a lot of inconvenience here,” the tourists said. (CNS)
