Police Wednesday claimed to have busted a network allegedly involved in attacks on mobile towers in North Kashmir.Addressing a press conference, Superintendent of Police Handwara Ghulam Jeelani Wani said that it busted an Over Ground Workers (OGW) network of militant outfit Jaish-e-Muhammad and arrested three persons who were providing logistic support to the JeM militants and were close associates of a top commander of the outfit. “This OGW network has been operating in Hanwara since April last year. They were involved in various subversive activities. Their target was the police, political workers and security establishments,” Jeelani said.

SP Handwara identified the arrested persons as Ghulam Nabi Lone alias Prince a resident of Udipora Langate, Umar Mushtaq of Yaroo Langate and Ishfaq Ahmed Parray a resident of Mandigam. These arrested OGW’s were active in various parts of Handwara town and were planning to do some big incidents in Handwara. With the busting of this OGW module a ‘big threat’  to the political workers and people have been averted in the town,” he said. He added that the arrested persons were involved in tower attacks in North Kashmir and they were also part of the sagipora Handwara  incident in which a three year old kid Burhan and his father became the victims.SDPO Handwara Mir Firoz was also present during the press conference.
