On the directions of District Development Commissioner, Anantnag, Muneer-ul-Islam, the Block Level Empowered Committees today initiated the survey of irrigation channels and their catchment areas in the respective blocks for the formulation of District Irrigation Plan in the district.The 16 surveying committees which were formulated by DDC Anantnag on January 23, 2016 for each block of the districts will identify new sources of water aquifers at village irrigation channels, irrigated and cultivated area at village level in every block of the district.The Block Level Committees comprise representatives of every allied department headed by Block Development Officer will formulate the comprehensive database which will provide valuable information to I&FC and other departments regarding the water resources of the district, their irrigated area, crop pattern and the vulnerability possessed by them in the low lying areas by using latest technological advances to map the existing water resources.In the next phase the findings and recommendations of the District Irrigation Plan (DIP) will then be taken up for execution under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY).The District Irrigation Plan (DIP) under the PMKSY is envisioned to suffice the increased irrigational needs and an executable plan to mitigate September 2014 like deluge in the district.
