Sheep Husbandry dept holds awareness camp at Sumbal

An awareness camp was organized by District Sheep Husbandry Officer Bandipora today at Community Hall Sumbal.The expert doctors gave useful tips to the breeders and made them aware about welfare schemes of the department in order to uplift the sheep sector in the district.On the occasion the Sheep Husbandry officer informed  that the total sheep and goat population in the district has reached up to 1.92 lakh heads including 1.50 lakh cross breeds. He further said that mutton and wool production has reached to 7 lakh Kilograms and 2.37 lakh kilograms respectively in the district.Incentives were also provided to the participant breeders by the department. Sub-divisional magistrate Sumbal, expert doctors and sheep breeders in large number were present on the occasion.
