An awareness cum training camp for dealers and farmers regarding use of pesticides and fertilizers for fruit and agriculture crop was organized by Agriculture department at Town Hall Shopian here today. On this occasion, District Development Commissioner Shopian, Mr. Bashir Ahmed Bhat said that the Government is very keen to stop the sale of spurious pesticides, insecticides, fungicides, fertilizers for safeguarding the interest of growers and farmers and also to save the Agriculture and Horticulture industry from any exploitation.
He directed the dealers to sell the products, which has been authorized by Agriculture University with valid license. He advised the farmers to apply chemical to their field only after consulting Agriculture and Horticulture experts and as per the recommendation of SKUAST-K so that the good quality of fruit and crops is produced in large quantity. Plant Protection Officer, Mehraj Peer said that strict measures are being taken to implement strong action oriented system to ensure that legal and quality insecticides are supplied to the growers.Among others, Chief Agriculture Officer Shopian, Chief Horticulture Officer Shopian, resource person from SKUAST-K, officers and officials of Law Enforcement and Agriculture Department, besides pesticide dealers and a large number of farmers attended the camp.
