On first day of the New Year, Minister of State for Information, Culture and Education Priya Sethi today inspected border area schools of R.S. Pura and Suchetgarh Constituencies.MLA, R.S. Pura Dr. Gagan Bhagat and MLA, Suchetgarh Sham Chowdhary accompanied the Minister during the border area tour.The Minister visited Model School, R.S. Pura and Suchetgarh, Girls Higher Secondary School, R.S. Pura and Girls High School, Suchetgarh.Director School Education, Jammu Smita Sethi, CEO, Jammu Joginder Sudan and officials from Education and PWD accompanied during the inspection.

While reviewing the facilities being created in the Higher Secondary School, R.S. Pura, Priya expressed her displeasure on the general maintenance and upkeep of the school premises and directed the Principal to gear up the activities of school modernisation. She said the school is a prestigious institute of the area and the government has already upgraded it as a model school.

She inspected the school classrooms, library, computer laboratory, science laboratories and other sections of the school. She interacted with the students and inquired about the modern education facilities made available to them.“I have come to spend first day of the New Year among the border students and I wish that the coming year would bring success to our students,” she said.She said the border areas are prone to frequent cross border disturbances and it is utmost duty of the teachers serving in these areas to ensure that study of the students do not get hampered, adding that all required facilities would be made available to the schools which are serving the cause of education in the border belts of the state.

Priya held a one to one meeting with the staff members and discussed future plan for ensuring better education to the students of the far flung and border belts of the state.

“Teaching is a noble profession and every teacher must contribute his maximum towards ensuring better education to our students, special responsibility falls on the teachers who are dealing with students of border and rural areas,” she stressed while interacting with teachers.She said every teacher must introspect about his personal contribution towards the school and positive inputs be made for ensuring that public starts posing faith in the government run schools. The human resource in government schools is best and now joint efforts have to be made to ensure that education standards in the schools are taken to the next level, she added.She gave detailed instructions to the school administration and directed for frequent joint meetings among faculty and parents so that better ideas can be shared for betterment of the students and the school, adding that next month a follow up visit would be made to review the progress made on the instructions issued.

She directed the CEO to organise a tour of the school faculty to SRML higher secondary school so that the teachers can have an idea of facilities to be made available in the model schools.While inspecting the Girls Higher Secondary School, the Minister directed the executing agencies to review the status of the old and depilated school building premises. She said necessary civil works should only be started after taking technical report about safety from the concerned PWD authorities.She also distributed uniforms among the students.The Director, School Education called upon the teachers to represent their ideas on the Facebook pages of the Directorate and CEO and directed for organising special classes for super 50 as well as other students who need special attention for academics.

Later, Priya visited the Model School and Girls High School, Suchetgarh and inspected the newly created infrastructure in the school.“Our endeavour is to create better and modern education infrastructure in all parts of the state and all out efforts are afoot to establish modern smart classroom for the students were they can learn with help of latest IT enabled tools of education,” she added.Addressing the teachers, the Minister said that the government has put in place a transparent transfer policy which would ensure that transfers would be according to requirement of the staff and all far-off postings would be made rotational, adding that online transfers would address the concern of teachers.
