District Development Commissioner Anantnag, Muneer ul Islam today held a meeting with presidents of market associations and representatives of various traders and manufacture bodies of the district here at Dak Bunglow.The District Development Commissioner stated that under AMRUT the long pending demands of the people living in the town will be met. He said that besides providing much needed infrastructure, there are provisions of making foot bridges, walkways and much needed parking slots in the main town. He added that under AMRUT, the district administration has already sent a proposal for creating a multi-storey parking slot to decongest the roads of the main town.The traders apprised him about the problems faced by them and people in general due to September 2014 floods while the District Development Commissioner assured them that district administration will provide every possible assistance to the flood affected people and said that all the affected people will be compensated adequately.
Regarding the issue of decongestion of the roads and removal of encroachments fro the foot paths, especially at important public places like the district Hospital Anantnag, Mehandi Kadal, Lal Chowk, the District Development Commissioner passed strict guidelines to the officials of traffic department and Municipal Committee to tackle the menace in the shortest span of time.The District Development Commissioner further said that to decongest roads of the main town, an initiative has been already taken, which includes development of Bye-Pass which will connect Mehandi Kadal with Ashajipora in the first phase and Janglatmandi to Donipawa in the second.
Regarding the issue of sanitation and cleanliness in the district , the District Development Commissioner directed the officers of the Municipal Committee to start regular cleanliness drives in every part of the district besides providing dust bins in parks and other areas that were prone to public litter. He also said that to provide public toilets at busy public places an initiative has been already started in the district, wherein Pay-per-Use public toilets will be constructed at many places across the main town.He further added that to avert September 2014 like deluge like conditions, proposal have been formulated to start dredging of rivers flowing in the main town.
