While highlighting the immense contribution of the former Prime Minister of India Sh. Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his 91st Birthday, Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh said that he has been an iconic and one of the most respected leader for the country both at the national and international scene. The Deputy Chief Minister was speaking at a function organized to celebrate the birthday of Sh. Atal Bihari Vajpayee former Prime Minister and one of the stalwarts of Indian polity.MLA Jammu West and State BJP President, Mr. Satpaul Sharma, Former Union Minister Professor C.L. Gupta, Ex MLA, Reshi Kumar Koushal, Ashok Koul, Ms Mumta Singh, M.L. Balgotra, Chandramohan Sharma, Prithvi Chand Gupta and several veteran leaders were present on the occasion.  

The Dy. Chief Minister said that Sh. Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ji holds an important and pivotal role in Indian polity especially at a time when whole of the opposition was being muzzled by the then powers. He said that by dint of his hard work, he was instrumental in giving the necessary impetus to the voice of dissent which is very important in democracy “Everybody is aware of the historical role of the leader which would go into the annals of history as remarkable and visionary and we should all ensure that the illuminated path shown by the tallest leader should be propagated so that the youth and younger generation get inspired by it” he elaborated.

 Dr. Singh, said that the former Prime Minister was also instrumental in strengthening the party at grass root level thereby making it a formidable political force and it is due to his tireless efforts that it has won more than two third majority in the lower house of the country. He said that the concept of credibility, transparency is synonymous with the leader as he has had an unblemished career which has even been recognized by his political opponents.“Sh. Atal Ji had great respect and love for this part of the nation and in his earlier days of politics, he used to come, interact and even encourage the young and budding political activist which was instrumental in shaping their individuality and they have contributed their bit in the polity of the state” the Deputy Chief Minister said and maintained that we should imbibe the teachings of the leader and thereby we will be carrying on his legacy.

MLA, Jammu West Mr. Sat Sharma also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the visionary role of the former Prime Minister in different facets of life including polity. He said that the onus lies on us to carry forward his legacy and historic contribution.The veterans also shared their experiences with the former prime minister and highlighted his contribution in various fields of life.
