Minister for CA&PD Ch Zulfkar Ali today said that government contemplates introducing  consumer affairs as subject in all schools from next academic session.He was speaking at a symposium organized at Yognanda College Of Engineering (YCET) in connection with National Consumer Day to be observed on 25th December.MLC Surinder Choudhary was also present on the occasion.Elaboration on the significance of this move, the Minister said that it will enable the students to understand their basic rights and responsibilities as a consumer and also help to further disseminate information about this vital issue by making students major link in this awareness programme.

Zulfkar said that every citizen is a consumer in one or other way and an informed citizenry accustomed about their rights and responsibilities can only avail benefits of several legislation meant for safeguarding their interests. He sought public cooperation in eliminating unscrupulous trade practices from the society adding that all stakeholder should join hands to generate awareness about the consumers rights.“ Let us pledge to eradicate    trade related malpractices from its roots and ensure quality and dedicated services to our consumers  ” minister maintained and exhorted upon the students to thoroughly acquaint themselves with the rights and responsibilities of a consumer and partake  actively in creating awareness about consumer rights.Director CA&PD G.S Chib, Joint Controller Legal Metrology (LMD), Department Amar Singh, Deputy Controller LMD Manoj Parbakhar  beside representatives of State Consumer Forum were present on the occasion.
