Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India under the aegis of Nehru Yuva Kendra Kathua (NYK) organized a State Level Declamation contest at Government Degree College for Women here at Kathua today.The topic of the declamation contest was ‘Patriotism and nation building’. Zonal Director Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan Sukhdev Singh was the chief guest where as Principal Government College for Women Kathua Dr Satinder Singh was the guest of honor. Six participants from different district of the state participated in the contest.While welcoming the dignitaries and participants district Youth Coordinator Kathua Som Dutt Zard said that the contest was an initiation to ignite the feeling of nationalism among the youth. He said the contest was organized at block and district level and will end at National level where winners of state level contest will compete.
Deputy Director Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan Shyam Sunder Kashyap in his address said that purpose of the contest was to channelize the energies of the youth to ignite the spirit of nationalism in them. He said India is a diverse country and since the inception of freedom struggle people from every religion, caste and creed contributed to the national building.Principal Dr Satinder Singh also expressed his views on the topic and called upon the youth to inculcate the good habits and work hard and play positive role in the development of the country. A jury of judges comprising Retd Prof Dhian Singh, Prof Arun Dev Singh and Prof. Ravi Kumar adjudged the participants.Zabeer Ahmed of Poonch bagged first position whereas Sajid Javed of Rajouri and Vivek Kumar of Kathua clinched second and third position respectively. The winners were also given a cash prize of Rs 25000, Rs 10000 and Rs 5000 respectively.
