The Surinsar Mansar Development Authority (SMDA) organized an awareness programme under Swachh Bharat Mission in collaboration with Sulabh International Social Service Organization at Mansar today.MLA Ramnagar R.S Pathania was the chief guest on the occasion.The function was attended by CEO SMDA Dr Vikas Gupta, Sulabh International Controller A.K Singh, Tehsildar Majalta, BDOs Majalta, Nud, Sarpanches and school children.MLA Ramnagar exhorted for adopting external cleaning by taking care of surroundings and internal cleaning by developing positive thinking. He called for adopting Swachh Mansar Mission at local level with public assuming responsibility for keeping the tourist and holy places clean as limited work force of government cannot complete the task by itself. He highlighted the ill effects of open defecation and problems including communicable diseases, air and soil pollution.
CEO SMDA said that it was important to keep Mansar clean and free from pollution so that it’s historical, religious and natural beauty of is preserved. He appealed the shopkeepers and locals to use the already installed dustbins around the Mansar Lake so that disposal of garbage is in a scientific way and avoid usage of polythene bags in and around Mansar Lake.A photo exhibition was also organized by Sulabh International depicting various problems, solutions and research being done in the field of sanitation. It was informed that the organization was maintaining 8000 toilets in the country and working towards ending scavenging in the country. A symposium competition was also organized by SMDA on Swachh Bharat Mission in which students of various government schools participated and MLA distributed prizes among them. Later, the MLA also inaugurated SMDA’s newly upgraded Children Park at Mansar.
