Secretary Social Welfare Department Sanjeev Verma today flagged off  a group of 250 students on a visit to various parts of the country under ‘Wattan Ko Jano’ programme.Being organized by the State Rehabilitation Council Social welfare Department in association with Union Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of JK Affairs, this Youth Exchange Programme will enable participants from various district of the state to visit different places of cultural and historical importance across the Country.Interacting with the students, Mr Verma said that such visits will help them know cultures, of different states and the technological advancement taking place across the country.  He called for  frequent interactions  between youth of the state  with rest of the country, saying exchange of ideas and cultures will help strengthening the bonds of amity and provide requisite exposure to the youth to develop their personalities

The Secretary exhorted upon the students  to optimally utilize this opportunity to add to their knowledge about the culture and development  scenario in  different parts of the country. “Such tour programmes play a vital role in sensitizing the youth about their culture and also to involve them in nation building ,"he maintained 

The students would visit prominent places like Agra, , Delhi and Dehradun and will take part in various activities including sports, debates, painting competition, interactive programs, cultural interactions etc with similar age groups in schools and colleges during their stay at various places. They will also get an opportunity to meet honorable President Pranab Mukherji in New Delhi  and also  have an opportunity to meet the  Chief Ministers and Governors of concerned states.Executive Director of State Rehablitation Council, Rubina Kousar, Director Social Welfare, Jammu, Virjee Hangloo and other senior officers of Social Welfare department were present on the occasion.
