S.I.T. Instructed To Speed Up Investigation In Abohar Case

The Inspector General (I.G.) Crime, Chandigarh and Police Commissioner, Amritsar today appeared before the Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission in connection with the disposal of various complaints made by the people belonging to SC category.Disclosing this, the Chairman of the commission, Rajesh Bagha said that the Punjab Government has constituted an S.I.T. in the case of the murder of a person named Bhim Sain Tank, a dhaba owner belonging to SC category who was murdered by chopping off his hands and legs.Mr. Bagha said that the 4 member S.I.T. has DIG Ferozepur Range Mr. A.S. Chahal, SSP Bathinda Mr. Indermohan Singh Bhatti, SP Abohar Mr. Harjit Singh and SP Bathinda Mr. Nanak Singh among its members. He further informed that a compensation of Rs. 5,62,000 has been given to the victim family under SC Act by the District Administration Fazilka on the instructions of the SC Commission. He also divulged that the police has arrested 8 accused while the search for nabbing the rest of the accused is on.

The Chairman also elaborated that in another case, a person belonging to SC category named Fatehdeep Singh S/O Late Karam Singh  R/O Sohian Kalann, Fatehgarh Churian Road, Amritsar had submitted a complaint to the commission about a false case of drug powder found in his possession registered against him by the police. Mr. Bagha said that after the enquiry conducted at the intervention of the commission, Fatehdeep Singh has been found innocent and as per the written report given to the commission by Mrs. Vibhu Raj, IG Crime, Chandigarh and Mr. Jatinder Singh Aulakh, Police Commissioner, Amritsar, the case against Fatehdeep has been cancelled.Mr. Bagha further said that the commission is seriously pondering over each complaint received concerning the SC category.On the occasion, Deputy Director Mr. Raj Bahadur Singh and other officers were also present.
