The Education Minister, Punjab, today inaugurated the Inter District State Level Co-Curricular competitions here at auditorium of Punjab School Education Board. During the occasion, he said that it is very important to commemorate historical occasions to make children aware of history.Dr. Cheema said that the commencing of the competitions with the ‘Vaar Gayan’ commemorating the sacrifices of the Sahibzadas is a very good sign. He further elaborated that with this, the students would be more aware about the culture and traditions and eminent personalities of Sikhism.While wishing the participating students all the success for the competitions, Dr. Cheema also honoured famous personalities of Literary, Art and Academic fields which included Dr. Nirmal Jaura, Pali Bhupinder, Dr. Narinder Singh Sidhu, Dr. Sunil Behl and Mr. Vinod Sharma.
Earlier on the occasion, the Chairperson of the Punjab School Education Board Dr. Tejinder Kaur Dhaliwal while welcoming the chief guest and other dignitaries, said that it has always been the endeavor of the board to provide a platform to the students to showcase their talent in extra co-curricular activities. On the occasion, Shabad Gayan, Declamation, Painting, Solo Dance, Folk Songs and Calligraphy contests were held.Prominent among others who were present in the function included Vice Chairman of PSEB Mr. Suresh Tandon, Secretary Mr. Gurinder Pal Singh Bath, D.P.I. (SE) Mr. Balbir Singh Dhol, D.P.I. (EE) Mr. Harbans Singh Sandhu, Director (Academic) of PSEB Mrs. Manjit Kaur and Director (Computer) Dr. Navneet Kaur.
