Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura today visited various hilly and far-off areas included Chelyan, Chontinard, Watakloo and Ledan villages of Char-i-Sharief Constituency.A team of senior officers of district administration Budgam including Deputy Commissioner Mir Altaf Ahmad accompanied the Minister during his tour.Addressing a series of public meetings at different places, the Minister said that the Government under the leadership of Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is committed to extend all basic amenities to the people. He said several initiatives have been taken to upgrade the basic infrastructure across all sectors.The Minister said that previous regime had ignored the hilly areas of Char-i-Sharief Constituency in respect of development and other fields causing people of the area to reject them in 2014 assembly elections. He said promises made by the present Government in elections would be fulfilled. “Directions have already been given to the district administration to prepare comprehensive plans for development of the constituency and submit the same to the concerned quarters for funding”, Mr. Hanjura added.
Referring to the developmental works under execution in the Constituency, Mr. Hanjura said construction, improvement and up gradation of number of road projects has been taken in hand. He said Detailed Project Report (DPR) of Loolipura-Chontinard road project has been prepared and the work on the project will be started soon.Responding to the demands put forth by the people, Mr. Hanjura said that a hospital building would be constructed at Chelyan area soon. He said Rs 50 lakh has been released for purchase of transformers and poles out of his Constituency Development Fund.Referring to the issue of rehabilitation of the people living in Ledan and its other adjacent areas including Gujjar Basti, whose houses were damaged due to landslides, the Minister said that district administration has already identified the land and the rehabilitation proposal is under active consideration of the Government for sanction.Earlier, the Minister visited the residence of Nazir Ahmad Hanjam of Kraligam Ledan who died yesterday in landslide.The Minister expressed grief over the death of Late Hanjam and sympathised with the bereaved family. He also prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.The Minister issued directions to the district administration to process the case for compensation to the deceased family on priority.
