Two militants and an Army man from 21 RR died during a gun fight in North Kashmir’s frontier district on Friday.Reports said that Government Forces including the Army personnel from 21 RR, Special Operation Group and Para-military Central Reserve Police Force cordoned off a particular area in Watsar Bhuvan forests in Handwara after receiving specific information about the presence of three to four militants there.Reports said that soon after the cordon, militants fired upon Government Forces that resulted in the death of an Army soldier while another received bullet wounds and was immediately shifted to Army Hospital.Srinagar based Defense Spokesperson Colonel NN Joshi told CNS that during the retaliatory process, two militants were killed. “The bodies of the militants have not been identified yet while the wounded soldier is undergoing treatment and is stable. We lost one of our soldiers during the gunfight,” he said adding that two more militants are believed to be still present in the area. (CNS)
