Minister of State for Education, Culture and Information, Priya Sethi today called on Minister for Human Resource development, Mrs. Smriti Irani here today.During the meeting, Ms. Sethi thanked the Union Minister for taking personal interest in facilitating the development of sound educational infrastructure in the State. She also thanked the Centre for enhancing central share of Centrally Sponsored Schemes in Education from 65 to 90 per cent.
Ms. Sethi said the State Government had approached the Centre for enhancing Central share of Central schemes on the pattern of other Himalayan States and hoped this would positively impact the creation of required infrastructure in the Education sector.
She said with the change in funding pattern the state would get additional funds and immediately the HRD Ministry will release approximately Rs 459 crores adding that the amount would be utilised for releasing pending salaries of ReT teachers of the state. She said the central government has pledged release of more funds as soon as the state submits utilization certificates for the funds already released.Expressing gratitude to the Union Human Resource Minister, the Minister said the state is getting full support from the central government and proactive support from the Education Minister will give fillip to the educational expansion in the State. She said the state government has been steadfast in its resolve to improve the education scenario in the state and all out efforts are afoot to fine tune the sector with present day requirements of the job market, she added.“Our education minister Naeem Akhtar has been taking innovative steps for ensuring better education in the state and the union ministry’s bold initiative would go a long way in addressing the demands of teachers employed under SSA,” she added.
