LeT funding module busted in Kashmir

Security forces busted a funding module of terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) on Tuesday after a man was nabbed and fake Indian currency of the face value of Rs.45,000 was recovered from him, an official said."In a major blow to LeT, a terror funding module has been busted in north Kashmir's Baramulla district," a senior army officer told IANS here."Acting on inputs, a joint team of 52 Rashtriya Rifles and Special Operations Group (SOG) of Kreeri police launched a search operation at Chandekut crossing on Baramulla-Srinagar national highway," he said."One person was apprehended after a brief pursuit and Rs.45,000 of fake Indian currency was recovered from him," the officer said."The individual has been identified as Mushtaq Ahmed Dar, a resident of Rinji," he added.

On his questioning, Aijaz Ahmed Dar, also a resident of Rinji, who was the next link in the chain, was also nabbed."Mushtaq Ahmed Dar revealed the involvement of Mohd. Yusuf Chopan, who had been receiving the fake Indian currency from Bangladesh for subsequent conversion into genuine currency and funding of LeT in north Kashmir," the officer said."Mushtaq Ahmed Dar was in the process of developing a module for LeT at Pattan in Baramulla district. Further investigations are likely to reveal more names," he said.
