A Forester who was allegedly thrashed by a close aide of State Finance Minister in Sangarwani area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district Tuesday alleged that Police have been refusing to entertain his complaint and so far no case against the assailant has been registered.Forester Abdul Kabir Maliyar, a resident of Muran Pulwama told CNS that he had approached Police Station Rajpora but the Station House Officer is reluctant to lodge an FIR against the assailant who happens to be a close aide of incumbent Finance Minister.Pertinently, Forester Abdul Kabir Maliyar alleged that Janaid Magray along with his supporters and security guards thrashed and abused him when he was demarking forest land in Sangarwani area of Pulwama. The incident was later on confirmed and condemned by Range Officer Pulwama who along with DFO Shopian had rushed to spot and had appealed government to initiate stern action against the culprit.

“I faced humiliation. The assailant who use his political influence to evade his arrest rebuked, abuses and thrashed an elder man like me and yet the police did not bother to register an FIR against him, given the fact that I along with my colleagues personally approached Police Station Rajpora to register a case against the guilty,” said the victim. He appealed Director General of Police and IGP Kashmir Zone to personally intervene into the matter and direct the concerned police station to register a case against the culprit.Despite repeated attempts, Station House Officer Rajpora did not pick up the phone; however, DIG Police South Kashmir Nitesh Kumar assured action. “I request the victim to approach him and I will direct the concerned SP to lodge an FIR in this case,” he said.
