While commenting over the statement of UN Secretary General Banki Moon which he had issued on the occasion of 8th anniversary of the Mumbai terrorist attack, Chairman Hurriyat (G) Syed Ali Geelani said that the root cause of the prevailing tension, disorder and disharmony in the South Asian region is the unresolved Kashmir dispute and until India and Pakistan will move towards the resolution of this long pending international dispute in and accordance with the wishes and aspirations of its people, till then the peaceful, prosperous and political stability in this region is a distant dream.He said that the reason of trust deficit and hostilities between India and Pakistan are not limited to only Mumbai terrorist attack but this situation continuous right from 1947 when India landed its troops in Jammu & Kashmir and forcibly occupied this land against the wishes of its people and since then the two countries not only maintained hate line between them but they have also fought three full scale wars during this period and another destructive war can’t be ruled out between the two neighbors in future.
Syed Ali Geelani appealed the UN Secretary General Banki Moon that he should definitely talk of bringing the killers of the innocent people to justice but he should also fulfill his professional responsibility in providing justice to the subjugated people of Jammu & Kashmir who are suffering from last 68 years.They have been forcibly snatched their right to self determination and the UNO has failed so far in its role which it was ought to play and for which this institution was formed.Syed Ali Geelani said that terrorism in any form is unacceptable and condemnable but the biggest terrorism in the world is the state terrorism of India which the people of Kashmir are facing. Its forces have caused extreme destruction of life, property, dignity and honour in Jammu & Kashmir. The UNO is maintaining a criminal silence over all this state terrorism of India and this institution has not taken any serious notice of the worst kind of human rights violations in Kashmir at the hands of Indian occupational forces.
Ban-ki Moon is talking about the terrorist attack of Mumbai but he is not saying anything about the Indian army officers and personals who are involved in worst kind of war crimes in Jammu & Kashmir and who have killed 10 thousand innocent Kashmiri people in custody and have subjected another ten thousand people to forced custodial disappearance.Syed Ali Geelani appealed the UN Secretary General Banki Moon to fulfill his responsibility in the peaceful resolution of Kashmir dispute and play his role in giving back the right to self determination to the Kashmir nation.
