Cash van driver flees with Rs.22.5 crore

A cash van driver in the national capital fled with Rs.22.5 crore on Thursday when a guard aboard the vehicle had asked him to stop the car to attend to nature's call, Delhi Police said.According to police, driver Pradeep Shukla and gunman Vinay Patel, both employees with the Security and Intelligence Services (SIS), were tasked to deliver the cash at various ATMs of Axis Bank in the national capital."The incident happened after the two left the Vikaspuri Axis Bank branch in west Delhi to ATMs in Okhla, which was their next destination to deliver the cash. Midway, the gunman asked the driver to stop as he wanted to attend to nature's call," said a police officer. The officer added that after the gunman de-boarded the van, the driver sped away with the van.A police complaint was filed. The van was later found abandoned in Vikaspuri area around 6.30 p.m."We have filed an FIR against the driver and the inquiry is on. We have sealed the borders and passed on the details of the driver," said police.
