Hurriyat (M) holds executive meeting

Pays glowing tributes to youth for offering sacrifices

An Executive Council meeting of the Hurriyat (M) which was presided over by the Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Wednesday discussed the ongoing resistance movement and the overall political situation and took note of the conglomerate’s working.Paying glowing tributes to the youth who have been sacrificing their lives during the ongoing resistance movement, the Hurriyat leaders said Kashmir issue concerns the sentiments and aspirations of the people of Kashmir cannot be resolved by using force, aggression and state terrorism.Terming the stance of New Delhi on Kashmir as unrealistic, they said its oppression and suppression tactics to keep the issue under the wraps had neither worked in the past nor would it work in the future.During the meeting, the Hurriyat (M) leaders stressed that Kashmiris had offered selfless sacrifices of their lives and properties for their just demand of the right to self-determination and said until Kashmir issue was not resolved as per the wishes and aspirations of the people of Kashmir, peace and prosperity in entire region cannot be acheived.

The Hurriyat leaders condemned the killings of people in different areas of Kashmir valley, arrest spree of the resistance leaders and youth, harassment and thrashing of the people and curbs on the movement of the resistance leadership and termed these atrocities as worst example of human rights violation.

During the meeting, it was discussed that such tactics of the government defy the claims of the democracy and drives home the point that these people can go to any extent to remain in power.The meeting also discussed the November 18, 2015 meeting of the conglomerate which was attended by scholars, Ulemas, religious leaders and civil society activists on the invitation of the Hurriyat Chairman.The meeting delved in detail ideas expressed during the November 18, 2015 meeting and said the Mirwaiz’s initiatives had been welcomed everywhere and should be taken forward.During the meeting, it was agreed to frame the committee that would go back to the resistance groups, religious groups, Ulemas, advocates, student organizations, trade bodies and civil society and get further feedback from them.
