RJD chief Lalu Prasad and his son and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Yadav on Tuesday expressed displeasure over a mad scramble by the party's newly-elected legislators to stake claim to government residences. Both the RJD leaders asked the legislators to "behave in a decent manner" to safeguard the honour of the Grand Alliance comprising the Janata Dal-United, the Rashtriya Janata Dal and the Congress. In his own inimitable style, Lalu Prasad reminded the legislators that he had lived for four months in a 'chaprasi' (peon) quarter even after becoming chief minister.

"You have to protect the honour of the Grand Alliance government by behaving in a decent manner. Do not create a bad name and impression by indulging in any thing wrong," he advised them at a party meeting here.Tejaswi Yadav, 26, assured that all new legislators would be provided government residences."Have some patience. We will allot government residences to all as per the rules of allotment. But please do not be in a rush," he said.According to officials, some new legislators have affixed their own nameplates on many residential buildings, pulling out the nameplates to whom the houses were earlier allotted. The Grand Alliance has 178 legislators -- 80 of the RJD, 71 of the JD-U and 27 of the Congress.
