The Delhi Congress on Wednesday questioned the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government's delay in tabling the Jan Lokpal bill in the state assembly as party activists staged a demonstration outside the Delhi legislature to register their protest."Earlier, the AAP government promised to table the bill in the ongoing session, but now they are saying it won't be tabled. What is the reason for the delay? The party was formed on Jan Lokpal issue; now they are delaying the bill. What is the reason for the inordinate delay," asked Sharmistha Mukherjee, chief spokesperson, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee. The AAP government has been under attack for its failure to table the Jan Lokpal bill.
The winter session of the Delhi assembly got off to a stormy start on Wednesday, as the BJP demanded its tabling."In the wake of scams pertaining to purchase of onions and sugar and corruption charge against a minister, it seems that the AAP is trying to shield the accused. The passage of the bill is a very lengthy process. Eights months have already passed, but they haven't done anything," the Congress leader said."Now, they are saying they will amend the Delhi Lokayukta Act. If it is so, then why did they mislead the people? We demand that they should fulfil their poll promise without diluting the Jan Lokpal bill," she added.
