Minister for Agriculture Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura reviewed the functioning of agriculture department and took stock of various agriculture activities in villages Sirah, Sirah-Kotla, Kakrial, Dhirti, Sool, Treen and its adjoining areas in Reasi today. The Minister inspected the fields in Sirah village of Katra Zone where farmers have adopted organic farming to grow vegetables. He also inspected the Vermicompost structures, Bio-Gas Units and agricultural implements being popularized among the farmers under various Centrally Sponsored Schemes.During his tour, the Minister was also apprised by the officers of Agriculture Department about the schemes and programmes meant for the farmers and their implementation on ground.He was informed that the department of Agriculture is keeping the farmers well informed about the latest techniques in the field and the welfare schemes launched by the Centre and State Governments.Responding to the demands of desilting , construction of deep Bore-Wells and leveling of un-cultivable waste lands ,construction of a pond at Sirah and its connectivity with Panthal Canal for storage of water for irrigation of large chunk of land, the Minister directed the concerned to prepare Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) in this regard and submit the same to the concerned quarters for early redressal of the issues .Director Agriculture Jammu, Dr. S. S. Jamwal, Chief Agriculture Officer Reasi Mr. Iqbal Chowdhary and other senior officers of Agriculture department accompanied the Minister during his visit.
