In a function held at the Raj Bhavan here, Governor N.N. Vohra released the first ever original Dogri language comic book based on the life of legendry Dogri hero “Baba Jittoo” along with two Dogri translations of Amar Chitra Katha comic books: “Swami Vivekananda” and “Kalidasa” and a Dogri compilation of essays translated into English language. The essays and the comic books have been translated and published by the Dogri Sanstha, Jammu, with financial support from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB).These publications form part of a series of publications which have been brought out by the Dogri Sanstha with financial support and guidance from the SMVDSB, aimed to promote Dogri literature among non Dogri speaking people and to generate interest of children in this language. The Dogri Sanstha has already translated and published four Amar Chitra Katha stories into the Dogri language, one book on Dogri short stories and a “Dogri Ekanki” into English and Hindi languages, respectively.

The Governor congratulated the office bearers of the Dogri Sanstha for their valuable endeavour to promote Dogri language and hoped that these publications would contribute towards the promotion of Dogri language and make its literature known all over India. The Governor advised the Sanstha to explore the possibility of securing wider circulation of its publications, both within and outside the State.Mr. Chhatrapal, President, Dogri Sanstha, has written the script and dialogues of “Baba Jittoo” while the illustrations have been done by Mr. Subash Anand. The authors whose essays have been translated and brought out in the book released today include Dr. Om Goswami, Mr. N.D. Jamwal, Mr.Surjit Hosh and Mr. Prakash Premi. Dr. Vandana and Dr. Garima Gupta have translated these essays into English language. All these literary personalities attended the release function.Among those present were Dr. S.S. Bloeria, Maj. Gen. Shiv Kumar Sharma, Members Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB), Katra; Mr. P. K. Tripathi, Principal Secretary to the Governor; Prof Lalit Magotra; Dr. Chanchal Bhasin; Dr. Rajesh Manhas, Dr. Ajeet Kumar Sahu, CEO, SMVDSB; Sh. M.K. Kumar, Additional CEO, SMVDSB; Sh. Pankaj Gupta, Deputy CEO, SMVDSB; were also present.
