Supporting the APHC's call of HMT Chalo to hold a condolence meeting in memory of Shaheed Gowhar Nazir Dar, the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) has appealed people to reach the venue to participate in the event.In a statement issued to press on Tuesday, a DFP spokesperson said apart from offering Fateha and paying tributes to Shaheed Gowhar, the pro-freedom leadership will reaffirm its pledge of taking the mission of martyrs to its logical end.He strongly condemned the continuous arrest of resistance leadership and activists and termed it a deliberate attempt to keep people away from leadership.The spokesperson said on one hand, bullets are showered upon us and on the other, there is ban on expressing condolence and solidarity with the bereaved.
Lashing out at state administration and police over its anti-people approach, the DFP spokesperson said the police has made the life of people hell by unleashing a reign of terror in Shahr-e-Khaas and Zainakote."Instead of acting as guardians of peace, the so-called police is inflicting brutality upon people and is hell bent on claiming the lives of innocent youth," he said.He said the PDP-led government broke all records of tyranny upon people. "The detention of pro-freedom leaders and activists who were arrested last week is unnecessarily prolonged and they are not released till yet."The spokesperson condemned the arrest of party activists in Islamabad, Dooru Shahabad, Kulgam, Tral, Shopian, Baramulla and Srinagar and said there is no justification in such arbitrary arrests.
