The Shiromani Akali Dal hit back at the Congress party for its challenge for open debate with regard to who is well wisher of the state and panth and said that the party which ordered attack on Sri Akal Takht Sahib and Sri Darbar Sahib with guns and tanks still needs proof on who is well wisher of the state and panth.Reacting to the challenge by some Congress MLAs in a statement released from the party head office here today, the SAD Secretary and Spokesman Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema said that it surprising to see that the party which ordered the demolition of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and tried its best to cause maximum damage to Sri Darbar Sahib , is today claiming itself to be champion of the cause of Punjab and Panth. He said that not only this but its leader Rajiv Gandhi had himself said that “earth shivers when a big tree falls” which resulted in killing of thousands of Sikhs in the streets in the national capital during broad day lights and Congress government did nothing to stop this massacre.
Dr. Cheema also said that subsequent commissions of inquiry have found Congress leadership guilty and intentionally involved in this massacre which has no parallel in the history and still the Congress MLAs are claiming that their party is well wisher of the panth.The SAD leader said that till date its leaders including Partap Singh Bajwan and Capt. Amarinder Singh are die hard fans of the Gandhi family and are always ready to bail them out whenever an issue is raised against them for their involvement in these acts against the Sikhs. He said that if the Congress party still considers itself to be well wisher of the Punjab and Panth it should suggest its leadership including Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi to admit their guilt publicly.
