Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh today said that the Prime Minister’s upcoming visit to the state would be a historic one which would accelerate the development scenario of Jammu and Kashmir besides ushering in an era of peace and prosperity.The Deputy Chief Minister was addressing a gathering of people at Bandipora today. Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, SSP Bandipora, senior officers, prominent activists like Abdul Rahim and others were also present.The Deputy Chief Minister said that the Prime Minister is keen to ensure that the pace of development in the state is accelerated so that it comes up as a model state of the country having all the requisite modern amenities. He said that the visit would be a historic one which would usher a new age of peace, prosperity and development in every sphere of life.

“Ever since the preset coalition took over, it has been the endeavour to ensure that people of the state get good governance, free of the menace of corruption besides being accountable at all levels” he said adding that directions have already been passed to the officers to ensure timely completion of various developmental programmes so that people get benefitted from these.The Deputy Chief Minister said that various schemes have been launched in rural and far flung areas of the state which would go a long way in changing the socio-economic profile of the people living there.Dr. Singh announced Rs. 15 lakh to the Municipal Committee Bandipora for various developmental activities and also directed the officers to prepare estimates for undertaking construction of various lanes and drains of the historic town.

The Deputy Chief Minister later addressed people at Sumbal, Sonawari and appealed them to come forward and play a participatory role in governance besides providing the requisite feedback to the government about the implementation of various developmental works at the grass root level.Dr. Singh said that the people should come forward and avail the benefits of the new schemes launched by the Government for providing soft loans to them so that they can start their own business. He said that the scheme would go a long way in providing the much needed facilities to the people. “Several other new schemes have also been launched which would ensure that the pace of development is increased, unemployment is addressed and also socio-economic profile of the people of the state is giving a positive push’’, he maintained.
