A meeting of senior officers was convened by District Development Commissioner Samba, Sheetal Nanda today to discuss the arrangements for ensuing Diwali festival.The meeting discussed in detail the necessary arrangements of security, traffic regulation, drinking Water, power supply, Sanitation, first aid and deployment of fire tenders for the smooth celebrations.The DDC directed the concerned authorities to keep a strict vigil on sale and storage of fire crackers besides ensuring that the shopkeepers are adhering to the guidelines laid down in this regard. It was decided that permission for retail sale of firecrackers shall be given by ACR/SDMs and for wholesale by the District Magistrate.EOs of municipalities were asked to design layouts of the sites keeping in mind safety parameters. Instructions were also given to the concerned officers for regular checking of overcharging and quality of food items being sold.AD CAPD was directed to notify rates of essential commodities on priority.
She directed the PDD and PHE to ensure regular power and water supply during festival days. She also instructed the traffic authorities to prepare a comprehensive traffic plans for smooth flow of traffic. The meeting also discussed the security issues and directions were given to Police Department for making necessary arrangements and deployment of force at important points. The DDC directed the Municipal authorities to ensure cleanliness in the city. She asked CMO Samba to keep the ambulances and sufficient stock of life saving drugs ready at different health institutions to meet any mishap.Among others the meeting was attended by ADDC Samba, ADC Samba, ACR Samba, CPO Samba, CMO Samba, Tehsildars, BDOs, besides senior officers from PDD, PHE, Municipal Committee, Fire Services, R&B and other concerned departments.
