Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura today visited Zinpachal, Gundishamus, Dradgund Futlipora and Kandajan villages of Chrar-e-Sharief constituency and took stock of the losses caused to the horticulture sector due to the recent heavy hailstorm in these areas.During the visit, a team of district officers of different departments accompanied the Minister.The Minister directed the Horticulture and Revenue Departments to conduct joint survey of the affected areas and assess the losses, especially to the apple crop. He also asked them to prepare a detailed report in this regard and submit the same to the concerned quarter so that necessary compensation shall be arranged for the hailstorm sufferers.Interacting with the sufferers, the Minister expressed his sympathy with them and assured that the Government will provide every possible help at an earliest.Later, Mr. Hanjura visited Ziarat Sharief Hazrat Sheikh Noor-ud-Din (RA) and prayed for lasting peace and prosperity of the State. 

Earlier, the Minister while addressing review meeting of the District Development Board (DDB) Ganderbal, convened under his chairmanship, directed the officers to ensure fast-tracking ongoing developmental projects in Ganderbal district so that these are accomplished in time and people get the requisite benefits from them.MLA Kangan Mian Altaf Ahmad, District Development Commissioner, Ganderbal Mr. Showkat Aijaz Bhat, SP Ganderbal Mr. Imtiyaz Ismail Parray and all District Officers were present in the meeting.

The Minister reviewed the sector-wise developmental works under construction, flagship projects as well as the status of implementation of the decisions taken in the previous DDB meetings and Action Taken Reports of the instructions given earlier.The DDC threw light on the status of developmental works in the district through a power point presentation.The DDC informed the meeting that out of the total available amount of Rs 30.94 crores, Rs 15.03 crores has been expended till September 2015. He further informed that 68 kanals of land have been identified at Saffapora village for establishing an Engineering College in the district.The meeting was informed that number of projects like DIET College Nuner, Dak Bungalow at Fatehpora, Physical Education College Gadora, Tehsil Office Building Lar, Unani College, Mother and Child Care Health Centre Kangan, PHC building Shuhama and Tulmullah, Polytechnic College Hathbora Ganderbal, Behama road, Degree College Kagan besides various bridges including Gundi Rehman, Bamloora, Akhal, Buzhama, Balsathu and Fatehpora are nearing completion.

While taking review of construction of 200 bedded District Hospital Ganderbal, the Minister directed the concerned authorities to ensure the completion of construction work of a portion of the hospital on priority so that it becomes functional.Taking stock of the road projects under PMGSY, it was informed that the macadamization work of several roads in the district has been completed.Addressing the meeting, the Minister enjoined upon the officers to work in synergy and unison so that benefits of developmental projects and other centrally sponsored schemes reach the maximum lot well in time.Mr. Hanjura said the Government has undertaken all the schemes for the holistic development of the State adding that the need of the hour is to implement them on ground in time.
