Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Abdul Haq Khan who is also Chairman of District Development Board, Anantnag Tuesday said the government is framing a policy for providing health Insurance cover to free population from Hepatitis disease.He said the government will also provide financial assistance to the patients who are suffering from Hepatitis in Kokernag area of Anantnag district.The Minister said this while reviewing the progress on the implementation of decisions taken by Chief Minister in the District Development Board Meeting of District Anantnag.Abdul Haq was informed by the district officers that government is providing free treatment to the patients in the age group of 18-32 in first phase and treatment of these patients is going on at DH Anantnag and JLNM Rainawari Srinagar.Minister said the department has undertaken vigorous IEC campaign to create awareness among the people about the precautionary measures.In June, Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed had asked to take necessary measures for controlling the disease and explore the possibility of Health insurance to free population from the disease and financial assistance to those suffering from the disease.

Earlier the Minister reviewed the progress on other decisions taken by the Chief Minister regarding the development of Anantnag District.Officials of the Roads and Buildings Department gave description about the progress of proposed Vailoo-Singhpora tunnel, completion of widening/macadamization of Anantnag-Achabal portion of Anantnag-Sinthen-Kishtwar roads, construction of Shangus Brah to Seer and Hallan to Brariangan and upgradation of Kullar-Yannar-Sallar road.Officials said DPR of Rupees 19.70 crore   for construction of 5.50 Kms of Vailoo-Singhpora tunnel has been submitted to government for approval and work will start immediately after the project is approved by the government.Abdul Haq also reviewed work on construction of solid waste management plant in Anantnag, establishment of Para-medical College and Nursing College at South campus of Kashmir University besides providing pure drinking water to the campus.Minister asked the officers to go for consolidation of works for ensuring speedy completion of projects. He asked the executing agencies to construct buildings as per needs.The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Muneer-ul-Islam besides heads of Departments (HoDs) and district officers.
