Minister for Transport Abdul Gani Kohli today reviewed the arrangements for bi-annual Durbar move in a meeting held here at Civil Secretariat.Speaking at the meeting, the Minister stressed the need for greater coordination between the concerned departments, especially Traffic Police, State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC), Beacon, National Highways Authority to ensure smooth movement of offices to the winter capital.Mr. Kohli also directed all the concerned officers to set up control rooms along with other facilities along the Srinagar-Jammu national highway to ensure smooth movement of Durbar move convoys.Apart from providing good condition trucks and comfortable buses, the Minister also asked the concerned to ensure that two SRTC officers will escort the convoys.The Minister was informed that around 150 trucks and 60 buses would be used to ferry the employees and the office record.

Besides, one crane, two extra buses and mobile workshop vans would also escort the convoy to fix the broken vehicles during the movement.It was also decided that apart from its main booking counters, SRTC would open additional counters at Civil Secretariat for issuing tickets in advance.Pertinently, the offices working in Srinagar for five days week would close on October 30, while the ones working for six days would close on Oct 31, and will reopen at Jammu on Nov 9. Advance parties shall leave on Nov 26.The Secretary Transport, DIG Traffic Kashmir and General Manager SRTC briefed the Minister about their arrangements put in place for smooth movement of Durbar move convoys.The meeting was also attended by Director State Motor Garages, Deputy Manager NHA1, Joint Transport Commissioner, RTO Kashmir along with other officers.
