Radical outfit Hindu Sena today smeared ink on Independent MLA Er Abdul Rasheed Sheikh at Press Club of India (PCI) in New Delhi. The incident has evoked condemnations from various quarters including by Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed.According to reports received by GNS, the MLA Rasheed was scheduled address a press conference at PCI Delhi in the aftermath of murder of a Kashmiri trucker by goons. As soon as Rasheed along with associates reached PCI, the activists of Hindu Sena smeared ink on their faces and manhandled them.

Reports said besides MLA Rasheed, his PRO Inam-ul-Nabi and brother-in-law of Zahid Rasool Bhat, the slain trucker.Condemning the incident, the CM Mufti termed it disturbing and said: “In a vibrant democracy like India, we need to have courage to respect dissent and provide space to different points of view. The spate of unpleasant incidents such as this is most disturbing.” The Opposition National Conference also condemned the incident. (GNS)
