Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today castigated Amritsar mp Captain Amarinder Singh for resorting to diversionary tactics to protect the perpetrators of sacrilege of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji.Lambasting the Congress leader for trying to vilify chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, senior leader and MP Prem Singh Chandumajra said the statement was proof of the fact that Amarinder did not want the perpetrators of this ghastly act to be unmasked. "Is this because you are afraid that such a development will lead investigators to truths which you would not like disclosed?", he asked.Mr Chandumajra said Amarinder seemed to be suffering from selective amnesia because he had chosen to conveniently divert the attention of people especially Sikhs whose sentiments were deeply outraged by the desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. They said Amarinder should feel ashamed of his actions and tender an apology for resorting to allegations which belonged to the gutter. The mp explained the SIT formed for the purpose of arresting the culprits had got valuable clues and the entire conspiracy would be exposed soon.

The SAD MP also reminded Amarinder that he had forgotten the atrocities committed on the people especially women during his term as Chief Minister. He said what could explain the brutal act of misconduct committed against women outside PAU during his tenure. Besides this also, untold hardships were inflicted upon the farming community which was reduced to penury during Congress rule, he added.Mr Chandumajra said it was the culture of the Congress party to fan the fires of religious fundamentalism and vitiate the atmosphere. He said the state government had taken a number of steps including formation of an SIT and even forming a judicial commission to go into the entire incident of sacrilege and its aftermath.

The SAD leader said Amarinder Singh despite being an elected MP from Amritsar never ventured into his constituency to have a firsthand knowledge about the problems being faced by the people and never cared to establish a rapport with them. The leaders informed that not only Amritsar but the people of his native constituency Patiala were also feeling neglected and left out when he was MP from there.Taking SAD leader elaborated that it was justifiably Amarinder felt more at home in the hills or abroad. "It is also understandable that you are frustrated at the turn of events because the Congress high command is not appointing you as the Punjab Pradesh Congress president", he added.
