A one day CME on “Management of childhood tuberculosis-revised IAP-RNTCP guidelines 2015” was held in the PG department of Pediatrics, GB Pant Hospital Srinagar today in collaboration with National Health Mission.The CME covered the Case vignettes from GB Pant Hospital, Epidemiology and diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculoses, Diagnosis of extra pulmonary tuberculoses, treatment, adverse effects of treatment, resistance to treatment etc. It also covered functioning of RNTCP/ notification of TB cases and Dots kit demonstration.The CME was attended by delegates from SKIMS Soura, SKIMS Bemina, SMHS Hospital, CD Hospital and paediatricians from field and Administration of GB Pant Hospital including Medical Superintendent.
Principal, GMC, Prof. (Dr.) Rafiq Ahmad Pampori emphasised on proper notification and follow up of all tuberculosis cases.Noted paediatrician of the valley Dr. Altaf Hussain stressed on tracing TB sources, usually adults, from where children get the disease, which is the backbone of tuberculosis control programme. He also stressed on proper coordination between physicians treating TB with all the other stake holders including RNTCP.Prof. Kaiser Ahmed, Organising Chairman, threw light on achievements of hospital in the field of childhood tuberculosis and also emphasised on a more robust coordination between various stakeholders.
