The Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Mr Muneer Ul Islam today chaired a review meeting regarding the functioning of Revenue Department in the district. The meeting was attended by ADC, ACR, SDMs of the district besides other officers of the Revenue department.The DC was informed about various works undertaken by the Revenue department in their respective areas, including the acquisition of land for developmental works, proper compensation to the displaced and removal of encroachments from the river banks.
The DC directed the officers to speed up the process of acquisition of land which is necessary for the initiation of developmental works in any area of the district and ensure proper compensation and rehabilitation to the displaced people.Taking a strong note of the encroachments alongside the river banks, the DC directed all the Tehsildars to personally monitor the removal of encroachments from the state land and along the banks of river Jhelum and its tributaries on priority basis and ensure no further construction takes places in these areas thereafter.
