MLA Langate and AIP President on Friday staged a sit-in at Pratap Park here in Srinagar to press upon MLAs to pass bill on revoking ban on beef in upcoming session of assembly beginning Saturday. The sit-in was attended by hundreds of people hailing from all parts of valley and belonging to different walks of life. Party displayed the signatures got during signature campaign from every part of valley.Speaking on the occasion speakers hailing from different areas and faculties appealed MLAs to rise above party politics and force government to pass the bill. Er Rashid said, “We have successfully reached whole valley and more than one lakh people have joined the campaign by offering their signatures, seeking revocation of ban on beef. Let all MLAs apply their mind and get the ban lifted so that sentiments of Muslims are not hurt any further more,”
“It is responsibility of both ruling and opposition parties to say in one voice in the assembly that Muslims can’t be deprived of their fundamental rights. The successful signature campaign should wake up the conscience of all MLAs cutting across party lines.” MLA according to GNS said.Er Rashid also condemned PM Modi for not uttering even a single word to show sympathy with the family who lost their beloved one at the hands of hindu extremists in UP for allegedly having beef in his house."The hindu radical forces have crossed all the limits and all peace loving and tolerant people should realise that who is communal and how muslims are being treated like second class citizens in India.” he said.He also expressed complete solidarity with the muslims of Jammu who are being harassed by RSS and other right wing forces and warned government of dire consequences if it doesn’t give respect and protection to muslims in Jammu region.
