World Health Organization has awarded National level Award to Himachal Pradesh for making Shimla Smoke Free and taking effective steps for conservation of environment. This was stated by Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister on the occasion of flagging of third ‘Paidal Nahin To Paddal’ Cycle Rally organised by ‘Initiative for Cycle Enthusiasts’ of Ashadeep NGO at his official residence here today. Chief Minister said that World Bank has sanctioned a loan of Rs. 1100 crore to promote inclusive green growth and sustainable development in the State. He said that State Government would encourage officials to use cycle which would not only keep them physically fit but also save petroleum products to a great extent besides conservation of environment. Dhumal urged the NGOs and people to supplement the government efforts in preserving the environment and development activities in the State. He lauded the efforts of Ashadeep NGO for organising this Cycle Rally which would go a long way in motivating the people for conservation of environment. He said that Ashadeep had been playing a pivotal role in the welfare of humanity and it should be encouraged in a big way. Susheel Tanwar, President, Ashadeep thanked the Chief Minister and lauded the initiatives taken by the State Government for the conservation of environment. As many as 40 participants including Shri Tikender Panwar, Deputy Mayor, Shimla Municipal Corporation participated in the Cycle Rally.
