In an endeavor to encourage skill development amongst girls, Member Parliament from Bathinda Harsimrat Kaur Badal today distributed stitching equipments to the girls who have successfully completed their training at various centers under the flagship of Nanhi Chaan. While visiting the stitching centres in Chenewala, Jhanduke,Chotian,Sahduwala,Fhoos Mandi, Ahlupur,Khera Khurad and Khera Kalan villages, Badal appealed the parents of girls to provide them with better education so that they can play a pivotal role in the betterment of society. She also distributed the certificates to the girls who have passed out. Badal said that she had started the movement ‘Nanhi Chaan’ before entering in politics and is very happy to see the encouraging response of common man towards this movement. She said that more than 900 girls have already completed their training in these stitching centers and 1100 girls are receiving skill development training in these 100 centers successfully running in her Constituency. She said that a proposal is being sent to Punjab Government to open more such stitching centers in other areas of the state so that the girls of our state are independent and can earn their livelihood in a respectable manner. She exhorted the people of the state to come forward and make the ‘Nanhi Chaan’ a peoples’ movement to save the girls and trees across the State as this is the motive of the movement. While visiting the villages of Sardulgarh tehsil , Harsimrat Kaur Badal said that due to the shortage of forestry, Punjab was facing the problem of unbalanced ecological environment, which was also the main cause behind the weaker monsoon. She said that it was the need of the hour to save the girls as well as trees in order to save the society and environment in Punjab. She said although Punjab Government is doing its best to eliminate these social evils but the contribution of masses is must for the eradication of such evils.
