J&K Sainik School Manasbal held its Annual Athletic meet cum prize distribution ceremony on 3rd of October 2013.Ghterous performances and athletic competitions of high jump, short put, 100 meter race, 200 meter race under 14,1 and 19 were conducted. JLN House was adjudged the cock house of the year 2013 on the basis of overall performance. Meritorious and position holders were awarded prizes having proved their mettle all through the year.District Development Commissioner, Mr. Sarmad Hafeez was the chief guest of the occasion while school alumnus SSP Ganderbal, Mr. Shahid Mehraj added colour to the ceremony.Sarmad Hafeez in his address assured all possible help to the school. He said that the district administration will be at the forefront for the betterment of the school. Asking students to keep pace with fast changing developments in education, he laid stress on moral education and impressed upon the students to contribute for the upliftment of the society and social issues.
Shahid Mehraj, the guest of honour, turned nostalgic and remembered his Alma meter days and thanked the school for the role played in his life. He impressed upon the students to continue with cherished values learnt in the school all through their life. Prof. Gurmeeet Singh, another alumnus, HoD of leading Engineering College was a special invitee. Among other guests who graced the occasion were Additional Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, CO 5 RR Ganderbal Col. Prateek and CEO Ganderbal Mr. Sonullah besides parents. Col. Prateek in his address assured the administration all possible help from Army side and presented certificate of merit to the Principal on behalf of GOC, Northern Command.In his concluding address the Principal Sheikh Gayas-ud-Din said that the school would be taken to higher levels of achievement in true pursuance of the school motto “through toil to the stars”. He thanked the Chief Minister for the support and the interest in the school.The Principal also said that very soon we will have smart classes in the school to have full access to the information available globally.
