Stressing the importance of training in enhancing professionalism, the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Trainings, Navin Agarwal today said an ambitious plan has been chalked out for conducting various advanced training courses for cops and officers of Jammu and Kashmir Police.Mr. Agarwal was addressing a meeting of heads of police training institutions in the State at Police Headquarters (PHQ) here today. The meeting was convened to review the working of police training institutions including Sher-e-Kashmir Police Academy.He said measures like modernization of equipment and gadgets as also other aspects of investigation have been gaining high priority in the present times. “We are focussing to enhance the professional skills in all the training institutions so that the department could stand at par with the premier police agencies of the country,” said Mr. Agarwal.ADGP said training inculcates a spirit of patience among the personnel, besides sharpening their skills and capabilities. He said training develops personality and builds character, helping to instil a sense of duty and people-friendly attitude.

“We have been upgrading the working of all training institutions to introduce latest training courses and sharpen the skills of our personnel,” he said and added the duties of a policeman have expanded manifold making it imperative to re-orient police training institutions and sensitize the police personnel about the challenges posed by criminals and latest methods of crime control, he added.Mr. Agarwal said that JKP, having six Training Institutions and a Police Academy, is emphasising upon upgrading training methods in various areas like counter insurgency, crime detection and investigation. The institutions train the police personnel in sophisticated technology to dovetail into crime network.Besides, several specialized training courses are conducted in other fields including respect towards human rights, cyber crime, crowd controlling by using minimum force and VIP security.Among other, the meeting was attended by AIG (P/T), Sheikh Junaid Mahmood, Principals of Trainings Institutions, Haseeb-u-Rehman, Ranjit Singh Kanwar, Sanjiv Kumar Khajuria, Asstt: Dir: SKPA (Outdoor), RC Kotwal, SP Trainings, BA Shah, Dy SP  Trainings, Sheikh Zaffar Ullah and other police officers.
