Chinar Corps as part of its efforts to afford opportunities to the youth of Kashmir to witness development and visit educational institutes of other parts of the country has organised a tour to Mumbai-Pune for a group of 30 young students alongwith teaching and administrative staff of Awantipur district from today to October 03, 2015, defence spokesman said in a statement.The team will be visit various educational institutes like IIT Mumbai, St Xavier's Institute of Management and Research, and shall witness the grandeur of Gateway of India, Tomb of Haji Ali, Nehru Planetarium and Nehru Science Centre during their stay at Mumbai. In the second phase of the tour they shall be visit the premier institutions like National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, Armed Forces Medical College and College of Military Engineering, Pune besides visit Film and Television Institute of India. The tour participants will also meet and interact with several senior Army and civilian officials apart from interacting closely with school children of their age in Mumbai and Pune.

The tour was flagged off by Brig A N Kukreti, Commander, Wuzur Army Garrison.  A befitting function was organised at Larikpura, in which senior Officials of State Govt as well as parents of participating children and Principal of schools were present. The chief guest addressed the gathering and exhorted the team to spread the message of 'Peace and Knowledge' and to exploit the wonderful opportunity given to them to discover new horizons and to work towards peace, harmony and progress of the country. The children are extremely enthusiastic and expressed hope that such tours will help them take an informed decision about their future academic pursuits. (KNS)
