Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura, Friday declared state level inter district under 14 girls volleyball competition open at Government Degree College, Beerwah.Volleyball teams from Budgam, Baramulla, Udhampur, Ganderbal, Jammu, Pulwama, Kupwara and Kulgam are participating in the event.Deputy Commissioner, Budgam, Mir Altaf Ahmed, Ex-MLA Dr. Shafi Ahmed Wani, CMO, Chief Agriculture Officer and District Sports Officer were also present on the occasion.Addressing a well attended gathering, the Minister said sports are not only good for better mental and physical health but also help promote team spirit among the sportsmen. He said government is taking several initiatives for promoting sports activities which include development of playing fields and upgradation of other required basic sports infrastructure and equipment.The Minister appreciated Youth Service and Sports Department for organizing such an event in the District. He said more such events should be organised in other parts of the State also so that talent among the youth could be nourished well and they are able to compete at State, National and International level.Deputy Commissioner, Budgam and Ex-MLA also spoke on the occasion.
