Rajasthan to amend economically backward classes quotas act

The Rajasthan cabinet on Tuesday approved introduction of a bill in the state assembly for amending legislations relating to reservation for economically backward classes and special backward classes.A decision to this effect was taken at a state cabinet meeting here chaired by Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.Rajasthan's Parliamentary Affairs Minister Rajendra Rathore told media persons that the cabinet approved drafts of two separate bills -- The Rajasthan Special Backward Classes (Reservation of Seats in Educational Institutes in the State and of Appointments and Posts in Services under the State) Bill, 2015 and The Rajasthan Economically Backward Classes (Reservation of Seats in Educational Institutes in the State and of Appointments and Posts in Services under the State) Bill, 2015.

"The two bills are slated to be introduced in the coming assembly session," he added.The Rajasthan assembly session will commence from September 16.The cabinet also approved draft of The Rajasthan Vexatious Litigation (Prevention) Bill, 2015."With an aim to discourage illogical and vested interest litigations the cabinet approved draft of The Rajasthan Vexatious Litigation (Prevention) Bill, 2015," he said.Rajasthan is likely to be the fifth state in the country to have such an act after Maharashtra, Goa, Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh.The state cabinet also decided to introduce Rajasthan Deshiy Chikitsa (Sansodhan) Vidheyak-2015 to give recognition to the practitioners of Yoga and Naturopathy. "To give legal recognition to Yoga and Naturopathy Medical Practice the Rajasthan Deshiy Chikitsa (Sansodhan) Vidheyak-2015 would be introduced in the state assembly in the upcoming session."The bill would help in registration of eligible practitioners of Yoga and Naturopathy and it would offer legal protection to such medical practices," the minister added.
