In a meeting held at the Raj Bhavan today, Governor N.N. Vohra reviewed the progress achieved in the construction of approach roads connecting Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University with National Highway -1A at Jhajjar Manthal; upgradation of approach road from Railway Station Katra to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University via Nangal; and upgradation of approach road from National Highway 1A to Panthal via Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University.The Governor stressed the need to ensure against delay in the time bound completion of these road projects as the same will adversely affect the functioning of important institutions like Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University and the upcoming Multi-Speciality Hospital, both at Kakriyal, and the convenience of 9-10 million pilgrims who undertake Yatra to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine.After discussion Mr. Rohit Kansal, Commissioner Public Works and M.D JKPCC agreed to the deadlines by which all the roads under reference would be completed. Principal Secretary to Governor Mr. P.K. Tripathi shall be monitoring progress on fortnightly basis.

The Governor directed Mr. Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Chief Executive Officer of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, to prepare an Action Plan for beautification of the internal roads in Katra town and provision of public utilities like toilets and drains alongside and work towards enhancing the aesthetic value of the town. Governor directed Ms. Sushma Chauhan, Deputy Commissioner Reasi to ensure against any encroachments along the roads and see that garbage was regularly collected.Mr. P.K. Tripathi, Principal Secretary to Governor, Mr. Navin K. Choudhary, Commissioner Secretary Finance; Mr. Rohit Kansal, Commissioner Secretary Public Works Department; Mr. Ajeet Kumar Sahu, CEO, SMVDSB; Ms. Sushma Chauhan, Deputy Commissioner, Reasi; Mr. Alok Mengi, Chief Engineer, PWD, Jammu; Mr. Abdul Hamid Sheikh, Managing Director, JKPCC; Mr. R.P. Singh, Regional Director, NHAI; Mr. S.S. Jamwal, Director, Planning, were present on the occasion.
