Violating the recent government order, a government school in Summer Capital Srinagar has barred 18 students from appearing as regular students in upcoming 10th class annual examination on the basis of their performance in Golden Test.Recently the J&K government had ordered that no student should be forced to appear in 10th and 12th Board of School Education (BOSE) annual examination as a private student on basis of his “unsatisfactory performance in golden tests.”Students from Government High School Bagh-i-Dedmari Shuglipora Noor Bagh along with their parents Wednesday appeared in Press Enclave Srinagar and alleged that school authorities have asked them to appear as private students in the up coming class 10th annual examination. “Out of 22 students only 4 students have been allowed to appear as regular students while rest of them have been asked to prepare for the examination at their respective homes. We have been directed not to attend the school,” the group of students told CNS.

They said that earlier they were informed that the school head took this decision after observing their ‘unsatisfactory performance’ in the golden test. “When we reminded them about the recent government order, they changed their tone and gave ‘shortage in attendance’ as reason. We were all the regular students. If you check my attendance, you will find me absent for only four days in the session. The school staff has violated the government norms and action should be initiated against them,” said Nighat Mushtaq.Director Education Dr Shah Faisal said that he will look into the matter. “These students should approach me, I will see what has happened,” he said.School head Yasmeena Akhtar said that these students never attended the classes. “Despite not attending any class, we allowed them to appear in golden test and all of them cut a sorry figure in the test. Instead of attending classes, they prefer to do private jobs,” she said adding that she has no personal grudge with any student and is just following the government orders. (CNS)
