Minister for Youth Services & Sports, Information Technology and Technical Education Molvi Imran Raza Ansari, Wednesday gave strict instructions for making foolproof arrangements during observance of ensuing Muharram.The Minister gave this direction while addressing a high level meeting convened to discuss and finalize the Muharram arrangements in the valley. Minister for Revenue, Mr. Javaid Mustafa Mir and Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare Ms. Aseia Naqash were also present on the occasion Deputy Commissioners of Bandipora, Baramulla, Srinagar, Budgam and Pulwama, Chief Engineers of PHE, PDD & R&B, Director CA&PD, Joint Commissioner SMC and other concerned officers attended the meeting. The meeting discussed threadbare various issues and took many decisions to make foolproof arrangements.

Mr. Ansari urged concerned authorities to gear up their men and machinery before hand and form survey teams to ascertain the problems around Imambargahas and routes of the Muharram processions. He also directed them to convene separate meetings in their respective jurisdictions so that directives could slash down to ground level functionaries to yield better results. He said “we have started process of arrangements in advance to ensure elaborate Muharram arrangements so that people could feel difference at ground level”.The Minister asked Director CAPD to make adequate arrangements for supply of ration, sugar and LPG during the month.

Director Health Services Kashmir was asked to keep ambulances with first aid facility available at Imambargahs and procession routes. Likewise, SMC Srinagar was directed to ensure proper sanitation and cleanliness in the said areas.The Chief Engineers of PHE and PDD were directed to ensure uninterrupted water and Power supply in the Shia dominated areas. They were also directed to make alternate arrangements by way of tanker service, and gen sets. The R&B department was asked to ensure repairs of all roads that lead to Imambarghs and procession routes.Deputy Commissioners were asked to make proper arrangements in their respective districts so that mourners do not face any inconvenience during the observance of the Muharram.Mr. Javaid asked the officers to remain available in their jurisdictions and monitor all arrangements themselves He urged the officers to make arrangements for creation of Sabeelgah’s in and around Imambargahs and enroute muharram processions. He also directed concerned officers to install high mast lights and water tanks where ever necessary, for which they can coordinate with him also.Ms. Aseia urged the officers of concerned districts to ensure setting up of medical camps around Imambargahs and also put Ambulance services available on procession routes.
