Road crash kills 7 in Bangladesh

At least seven people were killed and four others wounded as a goods-laden truck turned turtle at Nandanpur on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Comilla Sadar sub-district early Monday.The dead were identified as Shafiqul Islam, 32, Anwar Hossain, 40, Jahidul Islam, 35, Shahin Miah, 25, Ayub Ali, 26, Fazlu Miah, 30, and Jahidul Islam, 26.Of the deaths, six died on the spot while the rest died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital whilst undergoing treatment.Mainamati highway police camp in-charge, Abdul Awal told journalists that the accident took place as the driver of the Dhaka-bound corrugated iron sheet-laden truck lost control over the steering. ‘The truck was coming from port city Chittagong,’ he added.The police took the truck to the police camp after rescuing the victims, said the police.
