Ch. Zulfikar Ali rolls out mega development plan for Rajouri

Says funds for all pending mega projects approved, work to start soon

Rolling out the development plan for this border district, Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution and Tribal Affairs, Ch. Zulfikar Ali today said that the government has approved funds for ambitious projects of Rajouri which were pending for last several years. The Government has released funds amounting to Rs 71 crore for Anas Irrigation project, Rs 76 crore for Koteranka -Khwas road, Rs 2.29 crore for Rajouri -Darhal road, Rs 1.23 crore for Kotdhara-Karhad road and Rs 1.7 crore for Kangar Gali to Panihad road and the work on these mega projects would be taken up soon, Zullfkar said at a public grievance redressal camp held here today at Koteranka. The Minister also congratulated the people of the Rajouri over the identification and approval of 123 Kanal of land for the Medical college earmarked for the District.

The Minister is regularly holding Public grievance redressal camps as part of administrative initiative to maintain “constant public rapport" and to receive feedback about the status of development schemes and people's needs in particular areas. He said that the administration would be made fully accountable to general public for every action taken with regard to development of different areas.He said that reaching out to people in all areas was the guiding principle of the development policy of the government and it is marching on this track with strong commitment and by following a" befitting map.” He said that the main focus of the government is on reviving the defunct institutions and restoration of their credibility as per the aspirations of the people and provide basic amenities at their door steps. 

He assured that no stone will be left unturned to facilitate the development of Rajouri district.Listing the achievements of his coalition Government, the Minister said that in short span of five months, the people have witnessed a discernable change in the functioning of government machinery. He said the greatest achievement of the government was the revival of crucial institutions which were rendered defunct. Responding to the local demands of upgradation and provision of adequate teaching staff, the Minister directed the concerned to take steps to resolve the issues on priority. He asserted that education is pre -requisite for development and Government will pay focused attention on this sector.The Minister also directed the R&B and PHE departments to take steps to meet the demands related to provision of road connectivity, augmentation of water supply and water connections to uncovered hamlets.   He also directed DDC, Rajouri to frame a committee to look into the discrepancies with regard to MGNREGA liabilities and directed the rural development department to ensure payment to the  labourers  through  invoice in future.

Regarding the establishment of amusement park and ITI College at Koteranka, the Minister ordered the concerned SDM to prepare a DPR for the early release  of funds.The Minister said that more such regular public feedback programmes on working of the administration will be organized to have first hand appraisal of ground situation.  “This will help to put in motion the action required to  ensure that the governance agenda worked  out by the government  get implemented on the ground  in letter and spirit and people get the much needed relief in all spheres” he added. He sought people’s cooperation in translating government’s commitment to provide responsible, accountable and transparent governance into reality.The Minister stressed upon the concerned officers  to adopt pragmatic approach   for development of core sectors in the district. He asked them to pay focused attention on improvement of road connectivity, drinking water, power supply, education and health care facilities across the district.  He impressed upon the officers to perform their duties with dedication so that the demands of people of whole district can be accommodated equitably.

Minister also visited Nagrota area of Kotdhara where land for Medical College has been identified and instructed the officers to go ahead with the spade work like construction of approach road and other allied works before undertaking the construction of the project.District  Development  Commissioner, Rajouri  Shabir Ahmed Bhat , ADDC, Veer Jee Hangloo, SSP Haseeb Mughal, ACD Noor Alam , SDM sukhpal Singh  and senior  district officers of all  line department   accompanied the Minister  during the public grievance  redressal camp.
